Waves? What waves? Nuttin’ down the beach this morning – apart from the 10,000 crew pumping out the early morning sweat. Its going to be a sizzlin’ dirty thirty today – best get yourself down the beach for a dip.

Water temp still 19, high tide 8am, low 2pm, Moderate to fresh NNW winds, virtually no swell on the weekend (maybe local NE swell pulse) – Monday might see something surfable. Maybe a good idea to kick that tin can down to the Aquabumps Gallery, 98 Brighton Boulevard, North Bondi.

Yesterday we had a few special guests down the Bondi, to begin with Buttons Kaluhiokalani (full name Montgomery Earnest Thomas Kaluhiokalani) – the 47 year old style master from Hawaii had a profound impact on modern day surfing with his unpredictable edgy style in the 70’s. Buttons, nicknamed after is distinctive curly afro locks by his grandma, was renowned to be a bit of a wild man in his day, is currently in town to promote his new surfboard/skateboard range.

We also had the Current World Champion of Tow-In Surfing – Garrett "G-Mac" McNamara. The 41 year old Hawaiian charges anything – eating 60 foot faces for breakfast. This man has no fear.

And finally the local champion, Cheyne Horan who starting surfing the Bondi shorey at age 10. After 20 years on the pro tour in the 70’s – 90’s Cheyne was renowned for his experimental board designs (like the Lexcen keel fin) and the originator of modern moves such as 360s and aerial flips – not to mention running up for the world title serveral times.

Enough journo work for the day, have a good weekend, ::uge
