Boomtown 27th June 2008
I’m currently in Perth. Now the Perth metro area isn’t famous for good waves. Not like Margaret River or up North. So when my old mate, Young Bull, called up to say its cranking in Perth, I gave him the ‘ok buddy – sure thing – whatever’ and headed down the beach thinking a nice coffee on the beach would do me (me no boards).
8 kilometres from the booming city centre of Perth, we pulled into a empty car park which would be the equivalent of Bondi over here (except you can actually park a car – free as well), only 3 guys out, pulling into some pretty special caves close to shore. I picked my jaw off the ground and shot these pictures. I don’t think I saw anyone do a turn all day – take off, drag the hand and you were locked in…also it looks like 10 foot + this weekend down south near Margies! Yikes.
SYD
Back in Sydney the week of great south swell continues. Sources tell me it’s around 3-4 foot today and quite straight at Bondi – but still good. It’s perfectly offshore so you really need to think about surfing out of town locations. Tomorrow it will be smaller, and Sunday it’s all over. Monday, Tuesday micro. Best enjoy today while its here!
