Association of Surfing Professionals (ASP) World Champion Stephanie Gilmore will be returning home in November to encourage girls onto surfboards around Australia’s wave strewn coastline, as part of the Rip Curl Girls Go Surfing Days.
The event is a national learn-to-surf program targeting female non-surfers and female beginners of all ages. Returning for its 18th year, the event will be held at 65 locations around the country on 15-16 November, a weekend that coincides with a break in Gilmore’s tour competition schedule.
“I’ve missed Rip Curl’s Girls Go Surfing Day for the past couple of years, but am looking forward to being involved again this summer,” Gilmore said. “It’s an awesome event and we want to get as many girls around Australia involved as we can.”
“We’re really excited about this year’s event – the changes we’ve made are keeping things fresh to make sure everyone comes down for a good time and a surf with the girls,” Rip Curl communications manager Marine Cole said.
Ford Fiesta is cosponsoring the event while associate sponsorship is provided by organic skin care company Alba Hawaiian.
