Kane rinsing in the shorey

R i n s e

Howdy. Conditions were o-kaaay this morning. A huge wolf pack feasted on 1-2 footers. It was a little messy and weak – but as Bondi always is….it was surfable. Wave of the day rolled through at 7:34am – it was very impressive. It hit the bank just right, stood up and threw some lip. I waited for another one whilst swimming out there with my camera…but it never came… so I retreated to the shorey for a roll around. Looks like some rain approaching tomorrow with bigger but junkier waves…talk then.

  1. Hi Uge, pity that the Bondi Board riders had to go to Dee Why last weekend because of the south park earthworks. Maybe Council should pay more attention to what actually goes on at the beach and make allowances for the regulars – leave a track perhaps. It seems council are good at providing for the entrepreneurs who love to make a buck out of Bondi, but not so good at providing for the locals.

  2. so this wave of the day, where is the photo? i hear a stick insect was trying to fit inside it and didnt have the speed for a clean exit

    1. Yeah I was there for wave of the day…but the surfer fell off right in the critical part – in the tube so I didn’t fire a shot, as I was awaiting GOLD!

  3. Hi Uge, yes I agree the recycling thing is great, but local things happen at the beach that need to be taken into account and (hopefully) provision made for them. Cheers Lenore

  4. yeah, i was going for some lean back flare there was still be cover before… um yeah it was the board it just wasnt right, and the sun was in the wrong spot, and the breeze put me off i wasnt used to it

  5. FYI Lenore – the Boardriders last weekend was always scheduled to be an event at Dee Why ???

But it’s great you have some consideration for the locals.

  6. Thanks for keeping us up to date with what’s happening down at Bondi everyday… I know I’m a little off topic but I’ve managed to find the time and post my review of your Aquabumps Speedo Collection on my blog: http://fashionstylist.net.au/speedo-summer-2011-goes-aquabumps/

Well done and keep up the great work. It was a shame that you were away and I didn’t get to meet you 🙁 Your photography is great as is your collaboration with Speedo. If there is any way to get some samples that I may use as a giveaway to me readers, please do let me know who to contact in regards to that!

  7. Hi Uge,
I visit your gallery regularly and having grown up in Bondi and lived there most of my life (in my 50’s now) I really appreciate and admire the way your photos portray the wonderful feeling of Bondi Beach. You are a great photogtrapher. I am looking forward to purchasing my copy of your book when it’s reprinted.

I am an amateur photographer and would really love to know, what type of paper or printing techniques you use to achieve the wonderful metalic effect on your images.

I visit Guernsey, Channel Islands every year and have now built up a number of lovely images that I would like to apply that look to.

    kind regards
    Annette

  8. Hi Uge,

Its the father from Cheshire again. Well its official our summer is the coldest for decades. This Bank Holiday Monday it was 14oC, windy and heavy rain showers! So seeimg the photos this morning I notice a strange sight, it looks as though the sky is blue…, what is this! I can’t wait for our winter it has to be better thaqn this and I am tinged with envy for if this is just your spring…

  9. hey lenore
i am from bondi boardriders we didnt move it to dee why because of that, we got asked to vs dee why so we went to them.

  10. I want to know how/where that guy in the first shot got a wetsuit without any branding – a thing rarer than a Bondi wave with no-one on it.

And yeah, great shots as always Uge.

  11. Hi Bart, everyone that owns a Matuse suit just raves about them so today I am gonna get one. Do you know where locally to get one? ::uge

  12. Yo Uge, Locally, I got one from the boys at surfstitch.com and another from Matuse directly. The one from MATUSE arrived in 3 days from the States. YEW!
