Morning blaze down at Bondi this morning

: : B l a z e

I wait patiently for these types of mornings… Sometimes we get nothing for 2 months, sometimes a year goes by without any hint of gold. Every morning I stick my head out through the blinds looking for that thin high cloud with a gap along the horizon…something that will really turn on…and 9.9 times out of 10 there’s nuttin’ (especially with the grey summer we’ve had). This morning it was on, the skies above Sydney lit up in a pink and purple blaze…only for a short while though, say 5 minutes. I really hope you saw it.

Now, before you hit reply and ask what colour filters do I use, the answer is none. If you were up this morning on the beach, you’ll know what I mean. No filters, no added preservatives, just a mighty fine morning to be down there.

The surf on the other hand was small, clean and 1-2 foot. Take the mal or fish for a burn.

That was Leisel Jones down at North Bondi this morning, our champion swimmer surrounded by all the press. You had the opportunity to race against her best Breaststroke time.

Enjoy the rest of your day :: uge

PS – I’ve got a crook back from carrying all these cameras (hold the violins please). Luiz is a masseuse working in the Bondi area, comes to your house and straightens you out. I recommend him and said I’d put you all onto him. Call him, Luiz 0425 061 903

Small, glassy, 1-2 footers

Ben Buckler 7:10am, fishos

Stop and watch the colour show, Bondi 6:45am

Personally I would have gone for a rounded square over swallow tail

Coloured tides

Bondi 6:40am, boot camp

  1. UGE. absolutely incredible set this morning. loving it! Hopefully the surf will pick up sometime soon!

  2. I dont live near the beach any more, but when I wake up and see the colourfire sky through my window I know we’ll be in line for some treat pics later in the morning. thanks for getting off your ass and realising this for me while i hit the snooze button 🙂

  3. Uge,
As a photographer myself. I think by the end of my life I will have waisted at least a year waiting for the sun to light my shots…but I feel it is always worth it. Thanks for brightening my grey Canberra morning.

  4. Amazing photos. We saw you taking them while we did our workout this morning. Just stood and watched the sky change colours while we all caught our breath… truly beautiful work. good stuff!

  5. Cheers Uge, love the shot .. love the one from today with the sun behind me .. can you photoshop the SUP out so i can hang it on my wall 🙂 ha
