Beached as…

Kia ora (just one last time). Yep, this is our last photo update from this good looking part of the world…New Zealand.

We’ve returned to the photogenic town of Piha, a swell magnet close to Auckland that is well known for its huge rock in the middle of the beach. Lion rock works as a good wind shield and has breaks on either side of it. Choice aye? Today the surf is pretty junkie, the 1st onshore day all week, yes, we could have driven to the other side of the island…but I reckon we’ve clocked up enough k’s on this trip.

In a nutshell, there are great waves here…very laid back pace and so many options to surf. One word of advice, take a few weeks so you can go slower than we did! There is plenty to see and you’ll make many stops on your way…the countryside is amazing.

Special thanks to a few crew for making this trip possible, Tourism New Zealand, The H+K girls, Air New Zealand, Land Rover, Black Sand Lodge, Maz Quinn, Lenny and everyone else that welcomed us into their town along the way.

Sweet as…

  1. Bro, you gotta do an annual NZ safari. There are even better locations in NZed than the ones you have found on this trip.

    choice.

  2. Great Pictures all week. We have just come back from NZ and it is a great place. We saw so much and was amazed at the baches and tractors. The Coromandel Peninsula was great, don’t know about surfing but the beaches were great and some with nice white sand!!!

  3. Uge thanks not only for coming to NZ but for the genuine appreciation you have displayed for our stunning wee country.

It’s a great canvas to work from but you’ve certainly done it justice! Lennie

  4. What a great buzz to have you as guests not only with us but for eNZed. You’re great fun to have around. Thanks for awesome reviews, photos etc of Auckland’s Wild West Coast. You’re welcome back any time. Bobbie
