Writing an email which is read by 20,000 can be a daunting task. Freaks me out at times. It’s even weirder writing it on a rocking boat somewhere in remote Indonesia where only 45 years ago the local people were head hunters, and they still paddle dug out canoes to our boat selling wood carvings – meanwhile I’m rigging up my satellite antenna to beam back daily pics via outerspace (thanks Telstra). Mentawai people are poor and massively neglected being isolated from the rest of the world. SURFAID is a charity that helps out the people of this region, so if you’re interested in supporting them go to www.surfaidinternational.org

Waves – yep, we got waves today. Slightly larger than yesterday…4 foot with bomb 6 foot sets. The lulls so long that your hair dries in between sets…flat….then all the sudden a 6 foot sucky monster rumbles along the reef. Barely anyone out all day…actually didn’t really see many others today…beaches are deserted and idyllic, water crystal clear. Tomorrow we head south…or wherever we find more waves. Hope the office if going good. Sorry couldn’t help myself, ::uge

PS – the Aquabumps gallery is still open for business (even though this punter photog ain’t around) Wed – Sun 10am to 4pm.
