Quite a special day out there today as we heat up to a salubrious 23 degrees. The waves have halved overnight, but Bondi still has a 4 footer worth slaying. Looks like a lot of people thinking the same thing as two huge packs of early morning crew scrapped over incoming peaks. I am talking 25-30 guys on each peak. With NW offshore winds and a declining swell, it would be a good time to find yourself a wave before it all goes. The forecast looks quite dismal as this swell will fade by night fall and the weekend is 1 foot +.
Slater 9
Kelly Slater has clinched his 5th tour event at Lower Trestles today. Can you believe it. He is now as close as one event away from winning a record ninth ASP World Title.
In the dying seconds of his final with Taj Burrows he needs a 8.93. (difficult). Taj has priority, gives Slater the 1st wave of a set thinking it would be bumpy and lacking, and Slater pulls out a friggin’ 9.7. Read the full story here
