Gus in front of the urban sprawl

Squid

Last’s nights brief interlude with a mini-cold-front brought some temperature relief and rain – but no swell. Well, I lie, Bondi has improved marginally from near flat to a 1-2 foot shorey.

A small hungry pack of frothers were out scrappin’ nonetheless. Tomorrow – same same. Low tide 10:20am High tide 4:10pm and the water has got warmer with the south change – 22! Should be waves this weekend – NE swell (2-3 fters) – nothing special but a cookin’ 34 degrees so hit the beach.

Sharks

Talk of the summer is sharks especially after seeing the movie SHARKWATER last night. It’s a compelling well made documentary presenting the facts on the Shark Fin Industry. 100 million sharks are killed each year for their fins which is just insane! You must see this film if you’re an ocean lover. www.sharkwater.com or get involved in saving the sharks www.savingsharks.com

  1. Thanks for giving a shout out for Sharkwater Uge. Any chance of changing the opinions of people out there about the image of sharks has to be snapped up, and as your opinion has great weight with the local crew, i really appreciate it.

  2. Shark Fins.

I grew up surfing in Christchurch New Zealand & have many (bad) memories of sharks bodies rolling up on the shore that had their fins cut off. This is wrong in so many ways & glad that I havent seen this since moving to Bondi in 2001. Its sad to hear that this still happens on such a big scale, scared of sharks or not they are still the lions of the sea & have been around for millions of years.
PS- for all shark lovers go do a shark dive & see these beautiful creatures up close, amazing!

  3. You are welcome.
The movie sharkwater really alerted me to this shark problem.
I didn’t realise how serious the situation was.
    I will support 100%

  4. Ironically, there is a good chance that a shark fishery in the great barrier reef is going to be approved by the fed gov and opened . Australian Marine Conservation Society have a big campaign against allowing this happen (shameless plug of my NGO of choice).

  5. Great to see people responding to this senseless slaughter of one of the great predators the sharks and all our other marine friends from long line fishing.
If you surf and enjoy your swim down the beach you all need to see sharkwater it will dispel the bullshit about sharks and how greatly they will affect the marine environment if they are killed off.

So go see the movie, get on the website and get the word out there. The sharks needs you!!!

Gez this gets me fired up!!!

    Thanks uge
