On this very cold day there is a wind wave on offer down at Bondi – within the 2-3 foot range and barely anyone out. Far from perfect with a flanking SE onshore putting some wobbles in the already choppy conditions – nonetheless its surfable. (note the swell period is only 7 secs – weak!)

Can’t see a great improvement over the weekend but it’s going to be sensationally sunny through to Tuesday. Good opportunity to be a part of Bondi Bohemia, the local winter festival in and around the streets of Bondi. Have a look at what’s happening in your area over the next few days 11th July to 26th July www.bondibohemia.com As usual the Aquabumps Gallery will be open all weekend 10am to 6pm in case you’re around.

Last night’s sunset has caused a stir…loads of comments on how amazing it was. The colours were just unbelievable. Here is a more scientific reason why it was so special:

“The meteorologist Brett Dutschke from Weatherzone said the sky’s unusual tinge had been produced by cumulonimbus clouds off the coast being illuminated by sunlight that had passed through high cirrus clouds. Water vapour and ice crystals in the cirrus clouds had acted like a camera filter…filtering out some of the sun’s white light”. Such sights he said ” are more typical for this time of year than in summer”. Sydney Morning Herald 17th July

  1. Hey, love the site and the positive publicity you bring to the photgraphic industry.

As a novice photographer, it would be great to see you include some of the metadata from the shots – i.e. focal length, apeture, shutter speed, ISO below each picture? Or is this “proprietary” so to speak?

  2. Hi Uge, sorry to bother but when trying to download the Bondi spectrum wallpaper the pages shows “page error” and I can not even see the pic, much less the options to download it. If you have the chance to fix it that would be great, would love to have the wallpaper in my laptop. Keep it up, your pics and news are the best thing to read in the morning!
    Cheers from Mexico,
    Sebastian
