The morning fog with a junkie NE swell

Foggy

Hola. I am not in Sydney at the moment but my spies on the ground tell me there is a NE swell in town, junkie, and getting into Bondi at 2-3 foot. They say it’s ok for a paddle at sunrise in the fog, best to go early before the wind picks up from the East (that devil wind which gets into everywhere). Seems to be waves on the forecast for most of this week – just OK waves and predominantly from the NE – with mild spring temps – in the max 21-23 range.

I finally got my act together and have nearly finished the Aquabumps book which has been years in the making. We’re press checking it at the moment in Singapore, scrutinising it page by page. I don’t want to give too much away but I will say this, a) it’s a big mutha, with some spreads nearly a metre wide. That’s huge and could only be printed offshore b) we will be selling them all over the globe and there will be an online store – not yet available c) its 208 pages d) will be ready for sale mid Nov in time for the xmas tree e) Retail price not confirmed yet, but it’s a big book so start saving those clams f) it’s a book on a Day at Bondi and my 1st book of many (if you buy the 1st one) g) I’m self-publishing

If you ever come to Singapore, do check out my brothers bar – it’s really is quite something. A bar on the beach at Sentosa Island (especially on a Sunday…kinda like Ibiza come Singas). It’s called the The Tanjong Beach Club. There are no waves here, unless you’re in the wave pool or a Tanker flies past. See photos

Samudra Yoga and Surf Retreats are offering 10% off early bookings. Just use this promo code ‘aqua’ and work on that flexibility. More Info

Today’s Bondi shots are from Vanessa Rowe, a Tamarama resident whose been involved in Aquabumps for 11 years (head of cleaning the storeroom and admin). Onya Ness!

That is all, at ease ::uge

Familiar faces, Jim Olivier and Sarah Wilson

Not sure what's greyer, Singapore or Bondi

The brother's lair, hit it on Sundays

There's a pool!

  1. Hey Jim/Sarah

The best looking things on a grey Tuesday Bondi morning. Bali tan still hanging in there or are you just jet-setting permanently Jim? Sarah, agree re column on holiday angst – comlete absence of it on last trip due to concious decision to take on no responsibilities. Cheers Nicky

  2. Hey Nicky, my tan and holiday spirit have totally faded. Ergo, yoga mat and early morning grounding session…!

  3. Uge,

Just a quick note to tell you how your daily photos and commentary can turn a bad day into a good day! Plus every day I wake up to your wave series of photos (3 glass frames purchased when you had the gallery in north bondi) – I remember you showed me you had the same series in your pad.

Also, re your bro’s place in Singapore – I hear there is a lot of fun and I’ve seen the photos of my expat friends to prove it! On my next o/s trip it will definitely be a stopping point!

    Kirst.

Ps, Sarah I also read your blog, religiously read your Sunday columns, very big fan! (Hope that doesn’t sound too stalkerishly creepy!)
