Crowded enough for you? Could fit a couple more on the right

Change

It’s transformed into a nice little day outside. At sunrise the skies were dull and grey. By 9am it had cleared up and the nor easterlies are blowin’ with a nice little 2-3 foot wave on offer. The turbo rip is back and that seems to be putting plenty of wobble out there. Still fun though. Bigger tomorrow and maybe rain later today.

There has been a lot of change in the Bondi business district lately, here’s a few I reckon you all should support:

-THE WRECK CLUB opened last Wednesday and is the talk of the hood. Corner of Campbell Parade and Beach Road (far corner of Swiss Grande where the Hog’s Breath Cafe used to be). They have a pool table so I’m in.

-VICIOUS CYCLE, a dedicated indoor spin studio situated right next door to the Aquabumps Gallery (down the side lane behind Civic Video).

-GELATISSIMO has opened across the road from Ravesis – you can’t have enough ice cream shops on 1 block

-GINGER BLUE is a great little café on Curlewis Street next door to Vodafone. Talk footie with the barista Brett and he’ll be your friend forever.

Our buddies at Samudra are giving away a Surf/Yoga Retreat at Byron Bay.

Have a good day, ::uge

  1. Image No. 25706 – survival of the fittest? it may be crowded, but i would much rather be out amongst it, rather than being at a desk.
thanks for reigniting great memories of bondi.

  2. With the number of people coming into Bondi to surf and the lineups out of control, do you think Waverley Council will introduce an online booking system for surfing ……hmmm now there’s an idea!!

  3. the boardridres had an ide a years ago to build a reef from just beyond the icebergs. We all went up to the chambers and it got laughed off the agenda, when you think about it all the cashed up tourists with aboard under their arms take one look at bondi and go anywhere else and we are stuck with the bogans, backpackers and various other blow ins who mostly trash the place and clog up the beach

Take it back up to the chambers… dont give up…! It’s a great idea… Did you present it as a feasible business model…i.e charged or sponsored access or was it something the council had to sink $$$ into?

    DONT GIVE UP!

  5. without tourists, you’ll be so poor, ocean doesn’t belong to you, start respect it, you surf almost everyday of the year, you’re lucky, enjoy it instead of always complaining about non locals! accept them and go talk to them, learn to know them, they’ll be more respectful about locals.

    1. I hate to admit, but the artifical reef idea just ain’t gonna happen. They’ve built reefs before and had little success. A sand pump would work better than a reef at Bondi in my humble opinion. Charging for surfing would probably cause a riot and kinda doesn’t sit well with the whole surfing/freedom/relaxation vibe. Bondi has always been a busy surf break. It just is…if you want piece and quiet, I reckon you could surf Bronte or Tama on your own today – I don’t rekon it would be good, but at least there is no one around. Paddle out with the right mind set that if you get one of two good ones…then you’ll be stoked all the time. In saying that. Bondi was only crowded for about 1 hr today. ha! I surfed with not many out – Pick your times. uge

  6. You continue to amaze me with your incredible talent.
What lense and f/stop were you shooting image 25705 with.

    Thanx
    your #1 fan

  7. I left Bondi years ago for Europe…cant say I miss the crouds…. but sitting out the back I always wondered what an artificial reef would do to the the far south point…sheeeeeeet when I was really young the old blokes around town said they used to surf it on the big days….I never saw anything decent rolling through up there – since then ive never trusted blokes with moustaches who drive panel vans (with fantasy airbrush art on the side) and surf in boardies that look like tennis shorts…
