The Cape, Marky Matthews inside a monster

Singapore ding-a-ling

I had a small operation last week. Don’t worry… I’ll live. It’s nothing really, just something chopped out of my leg that was looking suss. After the good doctor made his extraction he said “Now you know you’ll have to keep out of the water for 4 days – no exceptions…”

After he said that…I just knew it. I knew that the sun would break out of its summer coma, the waves would turn on and the offshore grooming winds will come up.

That’s exactly what happened.

It’s been cranking for the past 4 days. Kelly Slater was shaking down The Cape, Taj was hacking Bondi and the swell bloomed into an autumn cracker, well above all our expectations. I’m seeing pics of Manly pumping, South Av tubing and even some south coast bombs firing….all the while I’ve kept my little wound high and dry. Hope you’ve filled your quotas up.

By the time you read this update I will be flying to Singapore to do an Aquabumps Exhibition of my wares at the Tanjong Beach Club (on Sentosa Island). I will be in Asia for 1 week only and the Aquabumps updates will flow once again from Bondi week starting 19th March. Thanks for your patience…hope this week is like last in Sydney. Maybe I’ll go have another operation so it will crank again.

    1. Its on the coast near Werethephukawi. Park at the corner shop next to the other shop and walk across the bank to the cliff. Its just to the right of the last remaining apostle.

  1. how come there haven’t been any new photos? I get sad when I procrastinate at work and see old photos…end up going to Realsurf and that’ a poor man’s alternative

  2. ditto andrew. i am hanging on daily hits of uge in cold, flat, angry London – mandatory start to every day. despite your unchallenged position as most accomplished, creative surf shooter uge, don’t suppose you could deputise someone while you’re away?

  3. Saw your images at the Tanjong Beach club 2 days ago and it was simply beautiful! Are you shooting with medium format? The details are amazing!
