Pretty crazy weather at the moment. After 3 months of perfect sunshine we’re getting lashed with storms and heavy rain. Yesterday was bi-polar, ended up being a nice day for a few hours.

Bunker in kids, we’re in for a wet week ahead.

This morning I roamed around Maroubra and Bondi. The Bra had solid waves…but just couldn’t nail a shot from the car. Could barely see the 3 surfers out there. Bondi was a mess.

Swell is coming from the North…there would be some gems amongst the storm. Only 1 shot is from today…the rest are randoms from last summer.

::uge

Golden but raining, all at the same time. Strange huh?

Fields of green, Bondi

Thick liquid, Bondi Beach

  1. i hope the guy who purposefully dinged my board at about 5pm yesterday at TAMA reads this – Mate – your a tosser – learn how to surf and not show off – this way you could have avoided dinging my near new board – I will remember you!!

    1. Get over it, shit happens. There’s an inherent risk every time you step into the water, this being one of them. Purposefully dinged it? I doubt it, don’t be so petulant. Move on.

    1. Sounds like you should of said all that at the time of the bingle Steve.

Someone ran into me new board too yesterday as well. Super busy yesterday…always on high alert.

      seeya, uge

  2. im not being petulant – this guy was not focusing and just wanted to make the left – he didnt give a rats ass about me or even hitting my body – i know this is dangerous stuff etc etc BUT this guy should have at least just moved 1 metre and all would have been avoided – i just get [issed off with the amount of wankers out there all trying to be the next kelly slater and not caring for injuring someone – it happens all the time and if it is the law /priority of the surf then this should be brought to the attention of the general surfing community – i love this sport but its guys like this absolute dick head that should be made to pay!!

    just my 2 cents

  3. Sam i didn’t do it. I don’t surf silly city beaches!!! I mean really to surf places like tama and bondi and expect this to never happen geeeez Louise pepper cheese! Who da kook?! Poor Steve, no one likes damage to their stick – just a bit silly to whinge about it. It’s actually the person not on the wave who has to get out of the way, and I’d like to blame other people for things that happen but regardless of the situation accidents happen… The biggest accident is to surf tama!! ;););)

  4. jethro – well some of us work and live in the city and tama is our only option – I would have got outta the way except he was coming at me like a freight train – i am an experienced surfer and know what to do BUT this guy was on a mission –

  5. And for outsiders… Well if you live in or near the city, I’d say either everyone is a local – or an outsider! Ask the fish!

  6. Sounds like you need to be on a mission to move one metre quickly Steve – obviously not experienced enough coz you didn’t actually know what to do… Get ya board fixed and move on ay 😉

  7. Ok guys, let’s change topics. This one has had a good run.

Big swell coming Wednesday…maybe planked with the wind though.

    Where you surfing?

  8. Steve it was ME! I am a local surfer from Darlinghurst and I thought I would bring my A-Game to the wild reef pass of Tama. Now, I don’t want to throw down some smack with the boys from the 2026. But get on this bitches – I meant to hit your head but missed.

cool bro – i m looking forward to seeing you there again mate:) lets see how tough you are face to face ya wanker

  10. uge – you have to tell Steve, that someone is yanking his chain. Before he blows a gasket and spills his kale smoothie.

  11. It’s such a shame to see that a beautiful sport and even more beautiful place to exercise and have fun is full of people wanting to punch on. There is too much anger out in the surfing community. Everyone should just learn to be excellent to each other and not redline so quickly.

  12. Steve. I fell over the front of my board yesterday and accidentally ran into someone at tama. Were you the guy that came in straight after the run in?

  13. In order to gain perspective of the incident you need to stop to think about the rest of the world. Imagine you’re living in a place where you can’t surf every morning before work, the nearest beach a short 3 hour drive away. It’s just a short enough distance that you can do it in a day (if you’re up at 4am to beat the traffic) although the surf ‘season’ is 6 months long with a water temp of 8 degrees (hopefully). Currently, we’re 4 months into the off season. I’m sure there are many other people in the same boat as I who would take a board ding for one wave in an overcrowded location.

NB or it could be the posse of airline baggage handlers who ding boards for a living who have decided to branch out and to tackle their board dinging pursuits head on (forgive the pun)!!!!

  14. Steve: it was me.

I am really sorry. I did see you there and was going to swerve but it was too late. I will pay for the cost of the repairs, please do get in contact when you next see me at Tama. Alternatively, you are welcome to surf my local break. Everyone is really friendly and generous with wave sharing. There’s no hierarchy in the water and locals have just as much priority as everyone else; it’s north end Maroubra beach.
