Blake Thornton and his man turns. Maroubra this morning

Hereward

Finally after a long spell of very small waves we have something to ride! Yes, waves.

Bondi is 3 foot, Maroubra was a bit cleaner and I saw some bigger sets.

Interesting stuff:

  • The Bondi Board Riders won the teams event and 2nd in the overall for the Australian Board Riders Battle on the weekend. Onya boys.
  • Hereward was a ship that was wrecked on Maroubra Beach in 1898
  • Swell will pick up tomorrow and come from the NE (should be 4 foot)

Framed, Maroubra

Even though it's stormy out, warm in the water

Love Buzz's...on every beach

Foaming wall, South Maroubra

  1. Uge – about the Hereward connection with Maroubra – from time to time storms move the sand enough for the remains of the wreck to be visible. It is close to shore, just out a bit from the sculpture of the Rubik’s cube. Apparently, back in the day, the wreckage was considered a hazard to swimmers and was actually dynamited by authorities to disperse it. I was lucky enough to see the wreckage on one of the occasions when it was visible a couple of years back. There were some rusty ribs of the hull and a mast.

    Love your work.
