Fisheye

For kicks, today I swam out with my first ever lens – the Canon fisheye. I can’t believe I still have it after 20 years. It’s missing a few pieces but still, it works after 100,000s of frames shot and thousands of hours in the ocean.

I can remember saving up for 12 months to buy it, and it was the most expensive possession of mine for many years  (about a grand). Fisheye was THE go-to lens for surf photographers back in the nineties. It’s perfect for the surf-mag cover shot barrel pic…but that’s about it, to be honest.

I feel the GoPro killed the uniqueness of this lens as it was a similar focal length…ok back to the cupboard it goes, maybe one of my sons will use it in another ten years time. I have to confess, I love the new Canon glass, so much easier to shoot with and colours are spot on.

Enjoy this amazing day. 31 degrees and quite simply perfect.

Hey, anyone wanna buy a couple large format photographic printers from my gallery? (40 inch or 60 inch)
