Rain

Rain, what is that? Haven’t seen it around these parts for quite some time. After a dry windy weekend, your gardens are loving it.

The great news is that the swell has jacked right up. A south swell with plenty of wonk and in the 3-4 range.

Yesterday ended up being a cracker windless autumn day with some of the bluest tones I’ve seen in ages in the ocean. Hope you got down there. (see photos below)

It’s true, there were two shark attacks around Margaret River yesterday which put the contest on hold. Alejandro Travaglini is recovering in Perth with significant leg injuries whilst the 2nd attack at Lefthanders had a decent bite mark on his board and leg but was still walking around after the incident (keep in mind the beach was actually closed due to numerous sightings earlier). There’s a lot of talk about a whale carcass on the beach at Gracetown drawing the sharks in close. More info

Thank you to all that emailed me last week with their generous travel suggestions in Europe for this August. Greece, Croatia, Corsica and of course Italy were the popular mentions. I received over 200 suggestions, so if I haven’t written back thanks, THANKS! I have read them all. I’m still doing my research and will let you know the final verdict. I will say it won’t be Croatia, this year, as it looks like I’m planning a boat trip around there next year.

Grazie Mille.

  1. Come on Uge, stop feeding the media frenzy. If a shark attacks someone, they will be dead or left with life threatening injuries. These incidences were clearly both cases of sharks investigating objects in their world, as they have no hands they have to use their mouths. They realised the 2 surfers were not typical food so they moved on.

    1. Yes agree, definitely sharks were investigating the surfers, but does that mean we shouldn’t write about surf related stuff on my surfing website? How does that work? Uge

  2. Oh Mr. Fish brings back some Bondi memories! I had the sweetest little green and pink Tavy-fish from the shop on Glenayr next to the pie shop. Honestly I never mastered the little bugger, but when I surfed in my dreams that’s how we looked. Man I miss Bondi.
