Cleaner

It’s a lot cleaner today than yesterday and looking fun. It’s not exactly pumping, but I would say you’d find a few gems. Swell is hanging in there and breaking around head high at most beaches of the east.

The sunshine is out and it’s here to stay for nearly 1 week. SO GOOD. It was a cold morning, around 11 degrees.

How about that 540 that Filipe Toledo nailed in the Oi Rio Pro last night? Watch

  1. Re Filipe’s 540 – surely a single aerial rotation to land in the same direction is a 360?
No doubt he got a huge amount of air but not a 360. Deserving of 10 points? Not from me…90% of the ride was the setup for the eventual aerial on the closeout.

    1. @Rob,
I going to assume your an older gentleman, but that air Toledo landed on the flats, was the most riskiest turn in competition history. The length of set of is comply irrelevant.
That like saying taking off at 3rd reef pipe… stalling, fading then falling into a crazy 320 second barrel would make the score lower because of the time it took to set up.

Mick Fanning on that wave of Toledo would of done 3-4 top turns, got a 7.BORING!

I am not sure you understand the degree of difficulty in this air, and that fact that he was winning, and did’nt even need to risk his ankles but he did – just coz he can!

I do agree with you though on the 360 / 540 wording.
I can’t stand Chris Cotes’s maths on the matter.
