The Dalmatian Coast

Our European tour continues on the spectacular Dalmatian Coast of Croatia. We are sailing from Split to Dubrovnik, poking the boat into all the best beaches and ancient towns.

Firstly, this area has so much tumultuous history I couldn’t possibly discuss it here on my morning Aquabumps rambles…but I had did have dinner in a fortified palace that is 2,000 years old (which is impeccably maintained – it’s like going back into time.). I’ve walked on the same marble streets as ancient Romans and swam in incredible blues of the deep Adriatic. The TV hit Game of Thrones has shone a bright spotlight on the area after many scenes were filmed here.

Waves, no – of course not. Dead calm seas. Some of the calmest seas I’ve seen.
Weather – belting hot 35 degrees plus most of the time. I’ve lost 5kgs sitting in my cabin punching this post out! It’s peak, peak, peak Euro holidays – so the place is alive with 100 different languages.

I hope you enjoy the travels…I hear it’s bitterly cold back home. :: uge

  1. Hi Uge,
Love your post & pix of Croatian waters. What boat company did you use – charter or bareboat hire? Approx cost?
Keep up the great work. It’s good for my soul to open the emails here in Dublin. Missing the Eastern Suburbs.
    Kind regards,
    Damian

    1. We are sailing on 100ft Linda.
We chartered it with captain and crew.
      It’s good fun. 10 of us…and it’s around 7k per couple

  2. It’s “Stiniva beach”, dude. Glad you enjoyed your time in Croatia. Next time, try and visit Korcula and Mljet!

  3. Great pics – we are on a charter right now. Heading to Vis tomorrow – what’s the name of the restaurant in the 2000 year old palace? Thanks
