Rain Bombs

That East Coast Low hasn’t hit Sydney as hard as we thought – yet (we’re not out of the woods). The Bureau of Meteorology says the mass of rain predicted to arrive in Sydney overnight is now likely to land through the middle of today, with six-hourly falls of up to 200mm possible in some areas. Nothing compared to the metre of rain dumped on our NSW northern rivers earlier this week.

I can’t believe/comprehend some of the footage I’m seeing on social media and from mates from the northern floods. No end of tragedy and displacement. There are so many terrible stories and amazing stories of communities banding together to assist the needy. My chef mate, Pip – which I encouraged you all to donate to, raised 27k in 24 hours and is frantically trying to feed the displaced families and SES/Police workers. What a bloody legend. Other mates with boats are still trying to pull people from houses. Our thoughts are with everyone up there affected.

Back in our neighbourhood, there was a brief reprieve of sunshine and waves earlier today. It’s pretty wild now, and I think the swell will be monstrous overnight flanked with 40 knots SE winds.

  1. Hi Uge
Thanks for relating the info about your friend Pip.
People experiencing this trauma will appreciate her kindness forever & it will help them feel some comfort in these early moments of what is probably utter despair.
