Well, it’s been a rather exciting couple of days. I am not sure where to begin. We’ve gone from dull rainy days to non-stop action in the ocean.
It all began late Friday when a gale force wind hit Sydney. It rattled my house all night, and on Saturday, we woke to an enormous, unprecedented, mack-daddy monster swell. Everyone asks me how big and if I have seen it like this before? Well, once or twice in my 23 years of Bondi documentation – but it’s extremely RARE to see giant waves closing the entire bay and breaking so far out to sea. How big, 12-15 feet, I reckon.
Sunday, the swell faded as fast as it hit and the waves were rideable, and Sydney beaches were on the cook! I hope you filled your wave quota; it’s so rare to get barrelled at Bondi.
Today the swell has pulled back (2ft); the bay was pure glass without wind and sunshine-a-plenty! Soak it up before the next midweek storm predicted to dump another 150mm of rain.

P.S. I shot loads on Saturday. Don’t worry.
did you forget to take pics from Malabar bay? there were about 20 servers getting overhead rides.
Hi John, can’t be everywhere. I was at coogee, Bondi, tama, bronte, Manly that day.
