Zero wind. Four-to-six-foot waves. Sunshine from the first crack of light (rare up here with all the humidity). A diamond day — a proper cracker — the kind you stash in the memory bank and bring up for years. It’s why we haul ourselves across the globe, chasing uncrowded perfection.
The Mentawais are a magnet for south and southwest swells, born from deep Antarctic storms — and before we even boarded, the forecast was lighting up with fat red blobs of promise.
Today? The swell’s mellowed, the boards are resting, and a swim in the blue abyss is calling.
