Kandoomaafushi

Tried to hop from Colombo to Malé… but just as we were about to touch down—wheels practically skimming the tarmac—the pilot hit the gas and pulled us back to Sri Lanka. Storm chaos. Classic island welcome.

Eventually, we made it. And yep, Kandooma was worth the weather rollercoaster.

The wave here is a playful little right that breaks just metres from your villa. To surf it, you’ve gotta stay here—no day-trippers allowed. It’s tide-sensitive too, going from 1 to 3 foot in the time it takes to grab your board.

On cue, Ace Buchan (yep, the WSL veteran) was on hand showing everyone how backhand tubes are supposed to look. Smooth as silk.

It’s peak surf season in the Maldives and this island is grommet central—pack full of mini shredders, beach tag, and buffet stations serving bottomless ice cream. Grom heaven.

Checked the cams back home… Bondi’s looking a little chunky too.
