Survival

No waves today — just glorious sunrises.

Last night I was living dangerously… I paddled out in one-footer peak-summer Bondi — and survived (Phew). Tiny surf, warm water, and the place turns into full aquatic traffic chaos.

Best way to describe it? Like driving on the roads where everyone’s drunk. Stop signs ignored, reds blown, people heading the wrong way up one-way streets… others just parked mid-highway. Total madness. And right when you think it can’t escalate, a beginner foiler slices across the face like a low-budget Mad Max stunt. Add the odd goat boat, SUP, and now SUP foilers into the mix and… wow. It’s genuinely surprising we don’t have a triage tent stationed at Ramp 2. You could argue it rivals the famous chaos spots you see on socials, like Waikiki or that right in Lombok.

On the paddle back in to shore, there’s always a tourist floating directly beneath the “Dangerous Current Do not swim” sign, patiently waiting for a complimentary rip ride to shore. Prime Bondi Rescue material — though they seem to be taking a break this season.

Just another day in Bondi – hahah!

Today’s cloudy, so things should be relatively tame. A few showers expected tonight.
