A nice, sunny start to the week in Bondi. Crisp, cool air, 1-2 footers and a very quiet morning down there. While waves are technically breaking, I wouldn’t say they’re good enough to motivate most people to squeeze into a wettie and paddle out, especially after a long weekend.
Geez, there’s a lot of construction going on in Bondi at the moment, isn’t there? Cranes, utes, traffic controllers on every second corner. I can’t recall a time when I’ve seen so many tradies working in postcode 2026. Good old Scum Valley is getting quite the facelift.
I often find myself wondering who’s going to live in all these new apartments. More accurately, who can afford to live in them?
Remember our old gallery on Curlewis Street? The mechanic’s workshop where we hung our hats for 15 years is soon to become luxury apartments. Uncle Claude tells me the three-bedroom units are somewhere between $9 million and $15 million, and that’s before you get to the penthouses, reportedly in the $23 million to $25 million range. Not exactly first-home-buyer territory.
I digress, back to the beach…
The swell forecast looks excruciatingly small for the next couple of weeks, with only a handful of days showing anything remotely surfable. Normally this time of year is pumping, so I’m hoping the charts have got it wrong.
