Cape to Cape

Cape Naturaliste to Cape Leeuwin is 132 kilometres of coastline in Western Australia’s South-West that’s littered with surf breaks. Some are well known; others are hidden down long winding, unmarked 4wd tracks.

If you know where to go at the right time – scoring waves without crowds isn’t too hard. Recently retired pro surfer Taj Burrow is from Yals and knows this area like the palm of his hand. I did a dawn patrol with Teebee to find a couple of nuggets – and well, we scored some fun ones.

Quick travel tips for South West : Margies region is roughly an easy 3 hours drive south of Perth. You will need a car rental (preferably 4wd). We crashed at the Pullman Bunkers Bay Resort (5 star) on our first night and loved it. I remember when it was all farmland out there! In giant swell there’s a good wave out front. Smith Beach Resort was great for a few days, waves all around it and mega pad on the beach. In fact, one of the nicest pads we’ve ever stayed! We’re down near Margies now, where the WSL comp will be in a few weeks (27 May to 9 June 2019) here’s info on accommodation around here. I reckon get some mates and get a house in Prevelly with Private Properties.
