Cronullafication

Today’s fresh serve of Aquabumps comes from high in the sky, around the southern shire district – Cronulla.

The ‘Nulla is one of Australia’s surfing reserves. The reefs around the Shire have a lot to offer, from psycho slabs to cruisy mal points to easy beachies. Famous surfers come from this coastal haven – Occy, Jim Banks, Dog Marsh, Matt Griggs, Connor O’Leary to mention just a few. Even my original photography mentor Jon Frank is from the area.

Cronulla is kinda a mirror image of Manly, with a harbourside and beachside and a heavy emphasis on surf culture. They’ve got a healthy supply of ocean pools too – which were mainly empty this morning due to the 7-degree start.

The summary of surf conditions – dropping, Wanda and Vooey had a couple. A sensational sunny day with gentle W breezes earlier.

With COVID lingering, staycations are the go! You can’t go far, but you can check out your backyard. For inspiration on Sydney adventures, check out sydney.com

  1. Love today’s post Uge! For the Wanda Wanderer photo (which is stunning) it would be great to capitalise Aboriginal or name the language which I think is Dharawal. Love your work – it brightens up my day!

    1. Stunning photos daily which keep me in touch with my daughter and family in Bondi. Thank you from Somerset UK.

  2. I just found this site. I lived in Cronulla from 1987-90. Today is my first day here and what a surprise, photos of Cronulla. I live in Michigan in the States now. Love the photos!

  3. Hi from Ontario Canada – Your photos are amazing. Thank you for sharing your gift with the world. Question – I have read that you don’t like drones to take photos. Do you hire a helicopter? How do you get these amazing shots?

    1. Hi Cara, yes I hire helicopters, instead of drones, as I print all my work very large and drones don’t have the image quality I require. take care, Uge
