Today’s surf is pretty lame. We’ve had a good run with heaps of swell last week…now the SE winds are butchering the 3 footers that are on offer. You can still catch a few decent ones in the middle – but you’d wanna be keen.

Slater. the Freak.
Let’s talk about Kelly Slater winning his 8th World title. He’s not from this planet. Despite there being two events still remaining in the season, Slater cannot be surpassed at the top of the ratings by any of his closest rivals (including Taj Burrow (AUS), Andy Irons (HAW), Joel Parkinson (AUS) and Mick Fanning (AUS)) who were all eliminated prior to or by Slater in the weekend’s event, the Billabong Pro Mundaka, Northern Spain.more

Beach Road Hotel Single Fin classic – held on 28th October 2006
The second Beach Road Hotel Single Fin Classic kicks off again on the 28th of October. While some people aspire to walk on the moon, Bondi’s surfers have far greater hopes in life – topping that to-do list is winning the Beach Road Hotel Single Fin Classic. If last year was anything to go by this one will be bigger than Quo Vadis! It was a stellar turn out as you can see from the photo gallery. Entry forms for 2006 are available from Aquabumps Gallery, Six Ounce, Krack Surf and Skate, and The Beach Road Hotel, costs $20 (for financial Boardriders Members) or $40 (for non-members). This includes t-shirt, BBQ, and presentation for over 18’s. You don’t have to be a die hard local, or even live in Bondi. Even if you don’t surf in the event, I urge you to get down there for one of the best home grown Bondi events of the year… once again featuring the spectacle of 70’s surf wear, dance offs, and pumping DJ’s. For full details, rules etc follow this link, or email Benny Davies, ben.d@bigpond.net.au – Note: Heats are very limited, and registration will not be possible on the day.
