Same-same but different

It started out as a stock standard, off the rack Bondi morning with clear skies, 3-4 foot closeouts and offshore breezes. The vibes a little different though, plenty more people down there in the morning doing their spring/summer rituals. The promenade was busy, the bootie camps 20% more participants, 24% more dog walkers – and […]

Refresh

Really nice, neat morning. Small waves, but peeling beautifully. 1 foot. No wind, glassy as. Clear underwater and reasonably warm for this time of year. Swell coming later today. Pray that comes to fruition, I am foaming for a surf. Happy Birthday Joely! :: uge

Sensational morning, warm water.

Immerse

Get in. Immerse yourself in the ocean, it’s deluxe, it’s 25 degrees! We’ve got tiny waves, they’re surfable around the waist to occasionally chest high freak set. The crowd was big, we’re all enjoying the conditions. Sun was out, finally after an earlier rain squall at sunrise. Nothing significant to discuss on the surf forecast. […]

Slide

Fortunately, the water temps have propped up a bit and it’s more inviting for a swim. Suns out and there are still remnants of swell dribbling into the banks. A longboard or foamier small board would suit today’s conditions. Get in, you’ll feel great afterwards. :: uge (yooj)

Great morning for us, not so great for our farmers

Corrupt Card

Every day I shoot with two or more cameras. I’m not a fan of changing lenses on the run, so I bring whole camera bodies dedicated to a particular focal length (at risk of looking like one of those sports photographers on the sidelines of the footie with four bodies dangling from the neck). Today one […]

Golden Hues

When it’s hot I don’t sleep much. Rolling down the beach at 6 am I don’t think many of you sleep either. Bondi was alive this morning with people going mad on exercise, swimming, surfing, SUPing, fishing…it’s on. Did I say surfing? To clarify, it’s tiny…and the banks remain dysfunctional. The Bulldozers are powering all […]

Oh boy, what a difference 24 hours makes

Change

Sydney weather is like a wild ride on a rollercoaster. Belting hot moments flanked by smothering southerly cool changes. Repeat. Hot/Cold. Calm/Windy. Repeat. Last night was stinking hot – it felt like Singapore. One helluva thunderstorm at dinner time. This morning, howling southerly onshores, 1-2 foot NE swells, empty beaches. You’ve heard me spruiking our […]

People

One of the best things about my ‘job’ is that I meet around 4-5 new people every day down the beach. As you all know, Bondi is one helluva popular beach and there is a constant flow of people, all year-around. We get all types from all walks of life. Yesterday I was talking to 1-year-old […]
