These photos are from yesterday afternoon. Nothing wrong with today, in fact it’s a cracker outside with good waves, but yesterday was really really good fun.
Yesterday was one of those days that snuck in under the radar. Most surfers fooled by the morning howl and threatening grey skies. Around lunchtime the swell had a little kick in it, a little one, just enough. And if you were sitting on a corner of reef near Sydney…every 15 minutes of so you’ll score a tidy 4-5 foot slab. No one around, not another lens, not a car in the carpark, just big wave freak Mark Matthews and Stab’s Sam McIntosh slipping in behind the curtain of this freaky joint. These two guys know this reef well – should it switch on for an hour or so, they’ll be there. Just take a second to look at this image of Mark…would you put yourself in this situation? Straighten out on a wave like this and will eating rock for the next 2 weeks.
Today it’s 3 foot and sunny – and it’s Friday…say no more.
