Much earlier today, sunrise, Bondi Beach

Touch Wood

We’re having a mighty fine run of weather this week – how good! Touch wood. I keep looking to the horizon to see storm clouds – so far only a couple of small showers this morning.

At 5:30am we had a hint of colour from the horizon – it didn’t really fire up but had potential.

East swell continues to provide small fun waves, 1-2 foot. Winds are NE and suitable for your boat ramp post-work swim. The water felt cold to me this morning as I submerged with my camera. I’m pretty soft, though – always fascinated by those that don’t wear wetsuits throughout winter. Plenty of Polar bears in Bondi.

On Sunday, there seems to be a fresh spike in swell – until then, small conditions remain.

I get asked a lot of questions every day, here are a few recent ones:

What magical camera do I use? Mainly Sony A1s and Phaseones
Wetties? Project Blanks Can I get a print? Hell yeah, that’s what we’ve been doing for over 23 years. Order online now for Chrissie pressies – order deadlines are fast approaching – if dunno which one, get a gift card Can Jet your son do an air? He’s trying so hard. Are we moving? Ahem…well, yes, soon, soon all deets will be revealed. Don’t worry, not far.

100 days until Sydney hosts the Sydney WorldPride

Sydney WorldPride

With all this sunshine over the past few weeks – Bondi is back to its hay days. It’s starting to feel like summer. This morning I came across a giant rainbow sand sculpture to mark 100 days until Sydney hosts the Sydney WorldPride. As the world welcomes back events after a very quiet 2 years, […]

Girls gone wild gang

Gangs of Bondi

Bondi is gangland – full of similar interest groups going about their morning rituals at sunrise. For a 900-metre-long beach, there is no shortage of activity, especially before 6 am. Tiny waves today, plenty of sunshine, little wind… an abundance of people enjoying the early warmth. Good vibes. The surf forecast for the rest of […]

North Bondi on the weekend. Love the water colours over the weekend.

Hectic.

That weekend was nuts, at times, overwhelming – Bondi is back! Bondi is hectic when you see four different coloured Lambos race down Campbell parade (in a 40 zone), followed by a Maclaren – bright orange, of course. I look up, and Amir is making loops in his plane…I cross the road, and a driver […]

Riders up

Bondi has some waves today, and they’re not perfect, but surfable. Out of Sydney’s 70 surf beaches, Bondi is probably attracting the size, but the constant ESE onshore winds aren’t favourable….good for your airs (I guess). The sunshine has been off and on all morning. I can’t work out if it’s going to rain or […]

Shorey floating, Bondi

Late Cold

Feels like winter dunnit? Not typical temperatures for November as summer approaches. -2 up at Thredbo as they get bit of snow. The west winds continue to blow, softer than yesterday (thankfully) but still quite icy. Once you come out of the water it will be very fresh and invigorating. Right now its 14 degrees […]

Sunrise paddle, Bondi

Flat az.

Strong 23-knot westerlies are dropping the temperatures this morning, chilly ain’t it? Flat too. It’s not often Sydney isn’t surfable – but today is one of those days – she’s pretty much flat…for now…but tonight, it should come up. Go for an invigorating morning swim. You’ll feel alive. Until tomorrow… :: uge

Very different down there today! North Bondi

Tranquil

After the recent chaos, Bondi has defaulted to a calm, quiet morning. The wind may be howling (up to 40 knots in gusts), but the ocean has subsided…the swell faded, and the clouds were back for sunrise. Fortunately no rain. Thursday and Friday look to be surf days. Sunshine today and tomorrow. Corporate GiftingWe are […]

Yesterday - mental huge crowd, been a while

Brimming

It’s been a while since I’ve seen a weekend like that around here – hot and busy. The combination of Sculpture by the Sea and 27 degrees resulted in an enormous beach turnout. There were traffic jams on my quiet little street for most of the weekend…parking was as rare as a sunny Saturday. Waves […]

Busy Beaches

Bondi is one heck of a busy beach, particularly at sunrise. Covid lockdowns, working from home, and years of constant rain or bushfires all contribute to amassing sunrise crew nowadays…it’s a good vibe, especially when the sunshine is flooding in – smiles everywhere, everybody says g’day. Bondi is ranked the 5th busiest beach in the […]

Sculpt

Sculpture by the Sea has returned to the Bondi! Marking the start of the warmer periods – artworks now sprawl the Bondi to Tamarama walking path. It’s hugely popular, and good to see it back on after our weird times. Surfing? Yes, doable. The fruitful east swell is running out of gas but still putting out […]

North Bondi has had a few waves with the east swell

Sublime Brine

Everybody was up early today; it was predicted for days to be a cracker. Everyone wanted a piece of it—clear skies, warmth and waves – too irresistible to sleep in. I hope you were down there! How good is an East swell? It finds its way into all of Sydney’s nooks and crannies. Everyone’s local […]

Yaaas

You’ll not believe it, but the sun came out this morning. Around sunrise, it was punching through the clouds illuminating the beach – just how I like it! Let’s party. Good timing, as the waves have come up and there’s 3-4 footers breaking at Bondi. Earlier it was a little morning sick, junkie, lumpy…then the […]
