Leftovers

There’s some leftover south swell still chugging into Sydney. It’s dropping rapidly.

At 7am this morning Bondi was maxing out. Most waves would close out straight.

I knew it would be this way…and that you had to hit a reef, like yesterday…just had a full morning diary. (Hence the late mail – sorry!)

Here is another video instalment from the Bird above Bondi. Watch. Warning to Expats, it will make you homesick.

  1. Yes still dribbling after yesterdays ours shots from urban Bangkok, but what is that ghost image in the top right corner of the wave of the day 27/5/14? Albino humpback? Or sidewash from the boots point?,u keep me going mate…many thanks..Benton.

  2. The drone shots are ‘kind of’ cool BUT it’s not going to be so cool when you have these birds hovering all over the place. Imagine lying on the beach or having a picnic in the park with your family or surfing and having even 1,2,3 of these things hovering above you. Never mind the danger factor when one malfunctions. My opinion is they should be banned. Signed, The Fun Police

    1. Gav,

These shots are from a Phantom (very small, lightweight) harmless copter. We would never use a big octo around people.

I think the price point of these drones will keep them rare. They are pretty quiet too.

      Thanks, uge

  3. Also was thinking your bird camera and relationship with Qantas could come together for a inflight short promo/educational tool to educate travellers to our beaches about the natural engineering of our beaches and how they are created and function as a living ecosystem, how to read the beach topography and water and stay safe and also direct them to your gallery to buybuybuy!
