Ding-Ding! Like a Boxing Day sale, Bondi Beach opened at 7 am for surfing, and there was a mad dash for the lineup. Wave-starved frothing lunatics filled their wave quotas before locking themselves up for the day (at home).
Statistics have already shown a drop in mental health today! Hooray! That means fewer bank robberies, less grumpy humans on Zoom and next to no cars burning on the side of our streets – all thanks to our cherished sport – surfing.
But, please, please, surf and rush off. Don’t hang. Stay at home.
OK, now. I want you to know, I’m still not shooting in the mornings, for a bit. I am kinda liking sleeping in. Hear me out. Without talking myself up, I know a lot of people down the beaches in the mornings. Before Rona, I would interact, greet, shake hands with about 15-20 people a day. Sometimes more – it’s a helluva busy place in the morning. Bondi is also a COVID hotspot. For these reasons, I don’t want to be the main connector between you and the Rona as… it would be a guy, like me, who’d spread it all over the joint! So rather than me going to my mates “2 metres away please!”…I’m just going to remove myself from the equation, just for now…until things calm down a bit and social distancing is relaxed. Trust me, I am so looking forward to shooting again.
Just thought I’d get that out. OK now, we’ve had a mad rush on wildlife in the gallery – so I thought I’d post a few goodies. Never thought i’d end up shooting animals, but then again, I never thought I’d be a photographer.
