Some beautiful beach weather for most of the weekend before Tropical Cyclone Alfred’s effects clouded our skies and the winds picked up.
Tropical Cyclone Alfred is currently a Category 2 system located approximately 465 km northeast of Brisbane. Forecasts indicate it may make landfall between Bundaberg and the Gold Coast by Thursday, potentially impacting a broad area of South East Queensland. These systems are quite unpredictable, so let’s hope for a non-destructive version of Alfred.
Currently, at Bondi, we’ve got a cooling, howling 20-knot southerly across the bay. The swell is building with all the cyclone activity and should be around head-high tonight. The ENE swell direction means Bondi will be smaller than neighbouring exposed beaches.
A lotta crew are heading north to the famous points; it’s gonna be very interesting when it calms down!
