Nice long wide open walls

winter swells

I spent 30 minutes in the car park today trying to conjure up something to write about the waves. Well, it’s pretty lame. 1 foot, sometimes 2, nice offshore, but its weak as. Few crew out scrapping for set waves, but all in all – I’d give it a pass.

The swell charts say it may get bigger later on today, but the winds are blowing 25 knots of SW (Bondi south corner will still be clean). The weekend forecast is for small surf, biggest Saturday morning (3ft) before fading all weekend. Decent waves yesterday. The Aquabumps email didn’t go out, so if you want to see the shots click here.

This winter we’ve had some great waves. Yet to have a pounding massive swell – but every July/August we normally get one or two 12-15 foot days. Here is some shots from the local area smooookin’ this winter so far.

Slater Switchfoot

Slater is just on another level this year. This footage from Padang Padang (yep where that boat ran aground) is just insane. Switchfoot into a cave and at Padangs…which is no easy wave. See footage from heat in Rip Curl Pro just last week. Silly.

The reef firing out a few

Hackable sections in the middle of the bay

Nice little wedge in the corner
