Sorry about the late transmission…
Today the Quiksilver Pro presented by Land Rover (yes very formal these days) was on again up here on the Gold Coast.
Snapper was pumping out 2-3 footers, pretty hard work on the high tide (just shoulders) but smoking on the low tide (like now).
- At 6am the pre comp line-up was choccas. Chaos everywhere you looked – fin flashes every wave. No, you won’t get wave out there with this crowd – forget it. Legends rolling past everywhere, Occy, Mick, Parko, Rabbit, TC.
- 16 year old Tyler Wright, Owen’s sister, lost to Hawaiian Carissa Moore in the Roxy Pro final…great effort by Tyler for her 1st event.
- Round 5 men’s ran today, Taj – on fire, Slater throwing heat, Jordy and Parko both getting long tubes. Jordy wins a nail biter over Parko. Some of the best live surfing I’ve seen.
- Final day of competition tomorrow, semis and finals…also the last day of the waiting period before quite a few head down to Bondi for the Boost Air Sho this weekend.
Ok…enough factual info.
If you ever get the chance to come to the Quiky pro – do it. Amazing convenient event with an airport down the road, abundance of accommodation right on the point and Snapper is just one of the quality waves where you can stand metres from the surfers (at low tide). Snapper is a HOT wave. Ripable at 2 foot.
