Coathanger Hangs

Once upon a time, I used to work in the city. I was a designer in a digital agency that chained me to a desk, 12 hours a day. The office was right next to the Harbour Bridge and Sydney Opera House, but back then, never took a photo of it.

Skip forward a couple of decades, and now I’m dipping into the big smoke to get a change of scenery for my daily readers. (There’s no surf anyway). Today’s images come from a new angle, not from a chopper, but the raised heights of the Harbour Bridge, sometimes known at the Coathanger. From 5am I had my very own private platform, for just 1 hour – to shoot and watch the city wake up.

Thanks, Sydney Bridgeclimb for the opportunity to explore such a fantastic piece of infrastructure. I did some Instagram stories about this mornings shoot (if interested) – view now. The bridge vibrates quite a bit with all the cars & trains crossing it, so my long exposures didn’t work out. I thought something that big would be solid as!
