The warm weather draws everyone to Bondi early. Looking around at 6 a.m. and seeing so much life on the beach at dawn was incredible. Rigs out, selfies firing, sunscreen wafting, ice baths overflowing, training groups sweating and all the dogs of Sydney on show down the prom. Summer’s come early! 34 degrees today.
The surf was fool’s gold. I was excited to see head-high plus waves, but after 1.5 hours of shooting, I didn’t see anyone get a decent wave, that wasn’t closing out. Same old story – needs high tide.
My favourite pastime, watching people race down for a swim, and as soon as they hit the water, the facial expressions say it all – it’s not warm in – yet.
Enjoy the good weather, from Thursday it will cool day and perhaps rain.
